Part of the Essex Summer of Arts, a chance to view and buy original pieces from local artists, and explore the history of our newest creative space, all in one day!
This Saturday, 16th of September, two venues in Colchester's cultural quarter will be hosting events perfect for art lovers.
Firstsite is the location of a pop-up market where you will have the opportunity to buy directly from regional artists, artisans and makers. Perhaps you're after an original print for a newly decorated room, a unique gift for someone special, or a one-off just for you? Talented local artists, such as Lee Thomas and Holly Trill will be displaying and selling their work from 10am to 4pm:
At the same time 37 Queen Street will be hosting their second Open Studios Day. It's a chance to explore the building and meet the artists, makers and creative businesses working in the studios.
Jude Lunn “work in progress” – All day
Over the last months, Jude has been researching the history of 37 Queen Street. This will be the first chance to see her work so far and discover the history of the building.
Police Tours – 11.00am – 4.00pm
Throughout the day some of the ex-police officers who worked at 37 Queen Street will be hosting tours of the building, giving their insight to how the building has changed.
Children’s Workshop - 1.00pm-4.00pm
One of the Studio's tenants, Flisan Beard will be hosting a Clay Workshop within the meeting room.
Roman River Music festival - 2.00-4.00pm
To finish off the Open Studios live African Drumming as part of the Roman River Music Festival.
And best of all, because the two events are so near each other, you can comfortably fit both into the day! See you there!
