Christmas in Colchester - Weekend Itinerary

It is a BUMPER weekend of Christmas shenanigans in Colchester so to make sure you get around all the good stuff, here's our suggested itinerary!

Friday, December 1st

Are you an artist? Love comedy? A thrill seeker, perhaps? Or would you just like to get trashed after a long week... ahem, we mean, drink responsibly in super stylish surroundings?! Colchester can offer something for everyone, but you may have to make some hard choices... Tindalls, our lovely art shop on Trinity Street, is holding one of their regular Artists Open Evenings from 4 to 7pm. There'll be artist demonstrations, like-minded company and possibly some mulled wine! And if you're partial to that particular beverage, you may partake of a glass at the opening of the Rose Finn-Kelcey's Power for the People exhibition at Firstsite from 6pm. Or you could go and laugh your head off at the ever-reliable Arts Centre, at the Laughter Zone Comedy Club, from 8 to 11pm. You might be able to fit in a quick whizz down the 35m long Demon Xtreme Ice Slider, opening tomorrow night at the Castle, before heading off for a restorative cocktail in the stylish surroundings of the Secret Vintage World's Are You Being Served Opening Party, at 37 Queen Street from 8pm to midnight. Chin chin!

Saturday, December 2nd

Head to lovely new indie cafe Sip & Tuck on the corner of Queen Street and the HIgh Street for breakfast (vegan options available), before you amble on down to 37 Queen Street for a morning's browsing at the Secret Vintage Pop-up Department Store. (Come and find us and say hi - look out for the greeny-turquiosey banner!). From there you are in perfect time to head over to the Made in Colchester Christmas Fair at the Arts Centre, where you can pick up some unique and thoughtful gifts. Then we suggest a hearty lunch at Deja Brew in Lion Walk, or perhaps a warming tea and deliciously healthy meal at Cardamon Tea Lounge, on St John's Street. From either independent cafe you can then head to the Christmas Fayre in Culver Square, before heading down to the Trinity Street Christmas Market, which is running till 3pm. And if you're up for a little more Christmas cheer after all that, then head along to Foxburrow Grange's Christmas Bazaar, and support the residents and staff, until 5pm.

Sunday, December 3rd

Up bright and early, y'all, for the Colchester Market Christmas Special from 9am! You can grab an array of fabulous food, find gifts and soak in the atmosphere. Then head to the Bazaar at Firstsite for their Art and Food Market (vegan options available) to meet and buy from some lovely local creatives. Then we suggest a jaunt out of the town centre and up to the Cafe at the Rec for their Christmas Market and a great cup of coffee until 4pm. (And don't forget both the Trinity Street Markets, Vintage World and Christmas Fayre in Culver Square are also running on the Sunday, so you really can visit them all!)
