The Colchester Community Poetry Project is a book of poetry to help raise awareness for our town’s homeless in connection with Emmaus and the GO4 Café in Trinity Church.
Can you write poetry?
Alice, of Interesting In Colchester, has come up with The Colchester Community Poetry Project, which aims to support our homeless guests and involve as many local people as possible.
Her vision is of a hard-back book, of around 200-250 pages. It will consist of 100+ poems, all on a theme relating to Colchester (the castle, River Colne, churches, the arts scene, transport, aspects of the town’s history, the priory, the Hythe, our military connections, the Roman Circus etc., etc.) accompanied by photos of the town, articles, case studies profiles, an introduction, preface and a foreward. There will also be an index of poets and an acknowledgements section for those businesses who have contributed to the costs of the book.
All poems needed by end of February, please - unpublished poems about our town and its unique areas, monuments, buildings, history and culture. Please, all budding poets of Colchester and the surrounding areas, join in this great initiative and submit your poems. All the profits generated by this project will go back into the town to help the town's homeless.
