The search is on to find Essex’s Best Youth Tourist Attraction, and if you're aged between 16 and 25 you could be the one to spread the word about Colchester, and grab yourself some prizes into the bargain!
Essex Business School at the University of Essex is celebrating the launch of its BSc Tourism Management degree with an exciting competition for 16 to 25 year olds, offering a prize package of summer days out worth up to £500.
Budding photographers, and fans of the fantastic tourist attractions around the county, are invited to post a pic of their favourite Essex place to visit on Instagram using the hashtag #essexyouthtourism and tagging @essexebs. Entrants will need to include a caption naming the attraction, explaining why it’s their favourite Essex day out.
The most photographed attraction will be crowned Essex’s Best Youth Tourist Attraction 2017. The best image will win the photographer a top selection of tickets for them and a friend, including two Adventure Island theme park annual passes and London Pass tickets.
Bernard Donoghue, Director of the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA), will be judging the competition. He said:
“I am looking forward to seeing the entries and to find out what inspires young people in Essex. There are more than 40 million visitors a year to the county, spending almost £3 billion and providing employment to about eight per cent of the population. It makes Essex a fantastic, and highly relevant, place to study for a degree in Tourism Management.”
The competition aims to raise the profile of the county’s tourist attractions and promote tourism as an exciting and rewarding career for young people.
Photographers have until 18 May to enter. Colchester is full of great places to choose from, so let's promote our town!
