Foodie Friday - Caffe Sala Vegan Night Review

Caffe Sala is one of my favourite places to go to in town for a coffee and cake. So when they announced that they were opening in the evening for a one-off vegan night I was really excited - and it didn't disappoint!

Colchester is a great place for vegans to eat out at the moment.  Caffe Sala's daytime menu has something to please everyone; veggies and meat eaters alike. But for one night only everything on the menu was vegan.

When we arrived it was dark and the cafe looked so cosy from the outside.  We were seated and offered some nibbles of olives and bread. Caffe Sala was licenced for the evening too, so they were able to serve wine and beer with the meals.

As we had pre-booked our food we didn't have to wait too long for our starters.

I made sure I tried both options!  My favourite was the black bean tostada, which had a nice balance of chilli with beans and avocado.

The mains were both pasta.  My favourite was the mushroom stroganoff, which had a lovely creamy sauce and was served with potatoes.

Finally dessert!  This was by far the best course and I loved both. The peanut butter chocolate torte was rich and creamy, and the strawberry cheesecake was lovely, served with fresh strawberries and 'cream'.

Caffe Sala is a lovely venue for eating out in the evening and I really hope that they will do more of this in the future. Did you go to this event?  What did you think?
