The ska-reggae collective, described variously as 'truly delightful', 'astonishingly chilled out' and 'the best of Brit reggae', bring an epic live set to their hometown to ring in the New Year!
Ska-reggae collective New Town Kings are a self-confessed 'band of upstarts' who emphatically blend old-school Jamaican rhythms with a fresh dose of UK-inspired ska.
And this New Year's Eve the nine-piece band will be demonstrating their expert ability to create party-fuelled ska anthems, with offbeat guitars and swirling horns aplenty, at the ever-reliable Arts Centre.
Hailing from... you guessed it, New Town, the New Town Kings’ modern twist on classic Jamaican music has seen them tour the country and play with the likes of The Skints, Gentlemen’s Dub Club and US reggae legends The Aggrolites to name a few. This Sunday night they will be supported by roots rock reggae band The Majestic, and veteran vocalist YT.
New Town Kings have travelled the world with their unique sound, clocking up over 500 shows across 10 different countries since their formation. Their punk-rock ethic and extensive touring schedule has seen them perform at the likes of Boomtown Fair, Secret Garden Party, The HMV Forum and a whole host more – and they show no signs of slowing down.
So, this New Year's Eve, be ready to party, because the urge to dance will be impossible to resist, and not only will you have a fantastic night, but, as this event is an Arts Centre fundraiser, you'll glow in the knowledge that part of the ticket price will go towards keeping our favourite deconsecrated church up and running for a long time to come!
Grab your tickets here, and have a great one, Colcestrians!
