Small Business Heroes- Revolver Retro

The whole of Colchester shred a tear when Revolver Retro closed it's shop on Sir Isaac's Walk but we have been treated to their return to Colchester when they opened a pop up in Red Lion Walk in mid December. Colchester Life caught up with Revolver's Karim...

Tell us some more about your business and why you decided to open a pop up shop in Red Lion Walk?

Revolver opened its doors in Sir Isaac's walk over seven years  ago. We sold mainly vintage clothing and accessories. Over the years we have definitely seen a change in people's shopping habits. The footfall in town lessened as people began to shop more and more online . Sadly we decided to close the Sir Isaac's Walk store a few months ago to concentrate on our new website and selling through vintage fairs.

We however, felt it was important to maintain a presence in Colchester and we are offer the opportunity to open a pop up shop in Red Lion Yard. This offered us an opportunity to revamp our brand with a brand light shop and fabulous new range of gifting and home accessories. The store is open until the 31st of December but we are looking to do a further pop up store sometime in the spring.

What is your favourite product in store for Christmas?

There are many new things in the shop that we love however we particularly love the curiou range. If we had to pick out one item, we would pick this octopus trinket tray.

Revolver Christmas Edit

How long have you lived in Colchester and tell us one of your favourite things about the town?

We have lived in Colchester for nearly 20 years now. Colchester has always had a great music and arts scene, there are tonnes of creative people in this town. We love local bands such as Superglu and Hobo Chang.

There’s been a ton of great independent restaurants pop up recently, which we love! Where’s your favourite place to eat in the town right now?  Do you have a go-to spot at the weekend? Colchester has a ton of awesome new bars and cafes and we’re excited to share what’s going on in the town!

Our go to eating spot would be Bambu a great little restaurant tucked away at the Hythe.  We also love Grain which is probably Colchester's best kept secret as it is tucked away behind Fenwicks. We also have a special love for the Arts Centre as we got married there.

You can find Revolver Retro in Red Lion Walk until the end of December or online
