Join us on Abi’s Adventure for a trip to the farm where you will meet all your farmyard favourites. A fabulous concert in a relaxed environment designed for babies, toddlers and children under five to take part and explore music, sound and rhythm through storytelling.

Normally you would need to travel to Hungary to taste some real authentic goulash dish. But now here is the opportunity to enjoy a truly fantastic bowl of goulash made in traditional cauldron for a unique taste! The festival features many more Hungarian foods and drinks, including spicy sausages, langosh (deep fried flat bread), chimney cakes, pancakes and other fantastic culinary enjoyments. You can taste the famous Hungarian palinka (a spirit made from pure fruits) and great wines. In addition, cultural activities as live folk music and folk dance, handmade crafts and artisan products, puppet show, face painting are also provided for your entertainment. The traders and entertainers wear authentic costume to show our colourful traditions. A great opportunity to dig into Hungarian cuisine and culture! Come and celebrate all things Hungarian with us!

The very first Colchester Games Fair is being held at The Colchester Arts Centre on October 7th.
If you're into tabletop gaming of any variety, or even if you are new to tabletop gaming, there will be something for you. Board Games, Miniatures, Card Games, Wargames and RPGs!
There will be a variety of different traders and demonstration games so you can try and buy!
There will also be a Bring & Buy. So if you have some games, miniatures, rulebooks or anything game related gathering dust bring it along and make some money to spend at the Fair! (details soon)

Ever wondered how a kestrel hovers or what speed a peregrine can dive at? Come along to this evening where experts Nigel and Molly, who have many years experience of working with birds of prey, will answer your questions. As well as a talk they will be flying the birds in the visitor centre, so a great opportunity to see these majestic birds up close.

The galleries will be open late, offering you the opportunity to explore some of the most interesting artist moving image and digital work showcased within our Screen Play season.
Throughout 2017, Firstsite are presenting selected works from Film and Video Umbrella’s (FVU) impressive back-catalogue as part of a new partnership. For Museums at Night we are joined by Jerwood/FVU Award winners Patrick Hough and Lawrence Lek for a series of exciting discussions about their individual commissions and interest in moving image as an artistic medium.

The most important date of Germany's cultural calendar comes to the UK and arrives in Castle Park Colchester this year for the very first time.
Taking place inside one of Europe’s Largest touring bier tents for a Bavarian style festival including a showcase some of the best and authentic oompah bands from around the world across all three sessions.
Plus a large selection of traditional German foods plus those all important steins!

Oktoberfest Colchester is an 18+ event. Challenge 25.
Will we find all the characters, will we meet the dragon? And can you help the witch make a potion to fix her broom stick. Each child will make their own craft linked to the story.

It will run at Highwoods forest and is £5.50 per child and £4.50 for siblings
We’ve gone all out on providing an authentic Dia De Muertos experience for you: expect world-renowned acrobats, theatrical circus performers, and professional Latin dancers performing throughout the night!
Day of the Dead just wouldn’t be the same without great music, and we’re pushing the boat out this year with live percussionist performances and a host of international DJs. Combined with Europe’s largest confetti cannons and CO2 guns, pyrotechnics and fire breathers, Day of the Dead is set to be the most insane spectacle of the year!
There will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved with the Day of the Dead festivities – professional film makeup artists will be running a candy skull face painting station, and huge piñatas will be scattered around that will need teams of you to break open!
Make sure you don’t miss out on this year’s most spectacular event – Day of the Dead! Tickets are expected to sell out up to six weeks in advance, so make sure to buy yours early to avoid disappointment!
